Richard M. McVey founded MarketAxess in April 2000 and has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since the firm's inception. Under his leadership, MarketAxess has emerged as the leading electronic platform for corporate bonds, creating an efficient and competitive marketplace for over 1,300 global institutional investors and broker-dealer firms to trade a broad range of credit products. Mr. McVey led the company's initial public offering in November 2004 and in 2016, the company posted record annual revenues of $370 million with a market capitalization of approximately $7 billion as of September 30th, 2017.
MarketAxess has introduced multiple innovations in trading technology to increase the transparency and liquidity of global credit markets. The company has developed a range of new and innovative trading tools to connect bond buyers and sellers, including investor-to-multi-dealer and all-to-all electronic trading solutions. MarketAxess has been awarded 13 patents for trading technology.
Mr. McVey began his career in the futures industry and joined J.P. Morgan & Co. in 1992. From 1992 to 1996, Mr. McVey was managing director and head of J.P. Morgan's North American futures and options business, and in 1996, he was chosen to be J.P. Morgan's head of North American fixed income sales and investor client relations. Mr. McVey previously served on the board of directors of Blue Mountain Credit Alternatives L.P. and now serves on the board of directors for the Miami University Foundation and the Colby College Board of Trustees.
Mr. McVey was recently selected as an inaugural member of the SEC’s Fixed Income Market Structure Advisory Committee. The Committee’s will work closely with the SEC on the efficiency and resiliency of the fixed income markets and identify opportunities for regulatory improvements.
In 2012 Mr. McVey was Ernst & Young's "National Entrepreneur Of The Year" for financial services and has also been named to Institutional Investor's "Tech 50" nine times.
Mr. McVey received a B.A. in Finance from Miami (Ohio) University and an M.B.A. from Indiana University
Antonio L. DeLise has been Chief Financial Officer since March 2010. Prior to his current role, Mr. DeLise was Head of Finance and Accounting at MarketAxess, where he was responsible for financial regulatory compliance and oversight of all controllership and accounting functions. Prior to joining MarketAxess in July 2006, Mr. DeLise served for 11 years as Chief Financial Officer of PubliCard, Inc., a publicly-traded diversified manufacturing, technology and engineering services company. In addition, Mr. DeLise served as President/CEO of PubliCard from 2002-2006. From July 1983 through March 1995, he worked for Arthur Andersen LLP as a senior auditor and senior manager, overseeing multi-national audit engagements for clients within the telecommunications, manufacturing and service industries. Mr. DeLise graduated magna cum laude from Fairfield University with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
Nick Themelis has been Chief Information Officer of MarketAxess since February 2005. Under Mr. Themelis’ leadership as CIO, MarketAxess has introduced multiple innovations in trading technology to increase the transparency and liquidity of global credit markets and has been awarded 13 patents for trading technology.
Before joining MarketAxess, Mr. Themelis was a Principal at Promontory Group, an investment and advisory firm focused on the financial services sector. Prior to that, Mr. Themelis was a Managing Director, Chief Information Officer for North America and Global Head of Fixed Income Technology at Barclay's Capital.
Before joining Barclay’s Capital, Mr. Themelis was the Chief Technology Officer and a member of the board of directors of AuthentiDate Holdings Corp., a start-up focused on developing leading edge content and encryption technology. Prior to his tenure at AuthentiDate, Mr. Themelis spent nine years with Lehman Brothers, most recently as Senior Vice President and Global Head of the E-Commerce Technology Group and previously as Chief Information Officer for Lehman in Asia where he spent six years in Hong Kong and Tokyo. Early in his career, Mr. Themelis worked at Morgan Stanley as a software developer.
Mr. Themelis has been highly ranked in the prestigious Institutional Investor ‘Trading Technology Top 40’ for the last three years.
Mr. Themelis currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross for the Greater New York area. He is married with four children and lives in Muttontown, NY.
Cordelia Boise has been Head of Human Resources since February 2002. Prior to joining us, Ms. Boise was a Human Resources Consultant to BrokerTec USA LLC, which operates a government securities electronic inter-dealer broker, from December 2001 to February 2002. From December 2000 to December 2001, Ms. Boise was Director of Human Resources at BondBook Holdings, LLC. From September 1995 to December 2000, Ms. Boise was Director of Human Resources at Arrow Electronics, Inc., an electronic components and computer products distributor. From 1987 to 1995 Ms. Boise worked for Chase Manhattan Bank, in various capacities. Ms. Boise graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology from Lehigh University and holds a Certificate in Human Resource Management from New York University.
Kevin McPherson is Global Head of Sales, responsible for managing the global investor client and dealer relationship teams. Mr. McPherson joined MarketAxess in 1999 as a Sales Representative running the West Coast sales and distribution effort. Prior to joining MarketAxess, Mr. McPherson worked within the Emerging Markets Fixed Income Group of Scudder Stevens & Clark where he traded EM fixed income securities, leveraged the group´s offshore mutual funds, and supported portfolio administration. Mr. McPherson began his career at State Street Bank & Trust as an accountant and auditor for fixed income and equities portfolios. Mr. McPherson received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Maine.
Scott Pintoff has been General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of MarketAxess since February 2014. Prior to joining MarketAxess, Mr. Pintoff was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at GFI Group, a position he held since 2003. At GFI, Mr. Pintoff was responsible for all legal, regulatory and compliance matters, including their IPO, all major acquisitions and implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act. Mr. Pintoff joined GFI Group in 2000 as Associate General Counsel. Prior to GFI, Mr. Pintoff was at Dewey Ballantine LLP from 1996 to 2000 within the mergers and acquisitions group. Mr. Pintoff received a B.A. (Honors) from Wesleyan University and a J.D from the New York University School of Law.
Christophe Roupie joined MarketAxess in March 2017 as Head of Europe and Asia for MarketAxess Europe Limited and Trax. In this role, Mr. Roupie is responsible for the growth of the MarketAxess and Trax businesses across Europe and Asia including driving the firm’s global expansion. Mr. Roupie was previously Global Head of Trading and Securities Financing for AXA Investment Managers. While at AXA, he managed trading teams in Paris, London, Hong Kong and Greenwich, CT across equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives, repo and stock lending. Prior to this, Mr. Roupie was the Global Head of Fixed Income Trading at Natixis Asset Management. Mr. Roupie started his career as an inter-dealer broker with Tradition. Throughout his career, Mr. Roupie has been an advocate for electronic trading as a critical component of best execution practices.
Richard Schiffman joined MarketAxess from BlackRock Financial Management where he was a Managing Director from August 2010 to August 2013, leading the Aladdin Trading Network (ATN) Open Trading initiative. At MarketAxess Richard is responsible for managing the development and implementation of the firm’s Open Trading efforts. Previously Richard had been with MarketAxess for ten years, having joined the firm at its inception in April 2000. Over that period he held several key roles including Head of New Business Development, Head of Information Services, Investment Grade Trading Product Manager and Chief Technology Officer. Prior to joining MarketAxess, Richard was Vice President and Manager of Fixed Income Research Technology at J.P. Morgan, where he was employed in a variety of positions from March 1992 to April 2000.
Richard holds a BA in Economics from Rutgers University and an MBA in Finance and Information Systems from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Mary Sedarat has been Global Head of Marketing and Communications since May 2016. Prior to joining MarketAxess, Ms. Sedarat spent 17 years with J.P. Morgan where she held numerous senior marketing and communications roles. Most recently, she was Chief Marketing Officer of the firm’s Corporate & Investment Bank. Prior to this, she was Chief Communications Officer for both J.P. Morgan Asset Management and the firm’s Treasury & Securities Services divisions. Earlier in her career, she held communications roles at Citigroup, American Stock Exchange and Ruder Finn Public Relations. Ms. Sedarat received her BBA in Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin.
As Global Head of Operations, Hue-Kan is responsible for improving operational performance across the organization globally. With over 18 years of experience at MarketAxess, Hue-Kan brings unparalleled expertise to her role. Her intimate understanding of the MarketAxess platform, and the problems faced by our clients, has allowed Hue-Kan to make significant impact on the electronification of the fixed income industry. Hue-Kan’s experience across many functions at MarketAxess give her a distinct advantage in improving operational efficiencies and inventing new ways to meet future challenges. She has a passion for guiding and developing new talent, building high-performing teams and effective leaders. Hue-Kan received a B.S. in Finance from St. John’s University.
